Our People

All our drivers are trained under the CTA’s Minibus and Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS), and their training is updated and renewed every 3 years. All drivers are friendly, caring and diligent. They get to know all our passengers and our passengers get to know all our drivers.

As all staff members will be in contact with vulnerable people, we are all checked by the CTA under the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS ex-CRB). We elect to perform the higher level “Enhanced” checks rather than the less searching “Standard” checks.

All staff members are Dementia Friends, having attended the information session as presented by the Alzheimers’ Society. This gives us all a better understanding of dementia and helps us turn our understanding into action.

OUR Management Committee

Our Management Committee overseeing the entire organisation are all experienced volunteers. Day to day management of the organisation is performed by a General Manager who reports regularly to the management committee.

Our Chairman is the daughter of the founder of our organisation and has been a management committee member since our inception in 1986.

Many management committee members have very many years of service with us, helping give a breadth of experience through trying periods.

As our funding from county and town councils is significant we feel it appropriate for the funding we receive from them, and our service delivery to them, to be carefully monitored by inviting them to provide representatives to sit on our management committee.

We also co-opt local experts with particular knowledge to broaden the management skills.
